Testing beyond a checklist

A test list is not the same for every visit.

It is fair to ask why a test is being requested. It is also fair to ask how an assessment works if no test has been requested.

Myth to test

Does every online prescription need the same set of blood tests?

Short answer

As of September 2026, general federal prescribing law sets no universal blood-test requirement before a prescription.

Keep that answer in its proper scope

That is a statement about general federal rules. Your health assessment still requires your care provider to gather enough information.

  • The health review still depends on proper medical practice and state rules.
  • Some medicines have special programs with their own test rules.
  • If tests are needed, medical-board guidance requires the doctor to perform them, arrange testing or refer you to somebody who can carry it out.
  • You may still need a test, even though the law does not set one list for every visit.

Ask what the result would change

A clear explanation connects the test to a decision. Keep the price question beside the health question.

  • What are we trying to learn from this test?
  • Would a recent result answer the question?
  • Who will review and explain the result?
  • What is included in the quoted testing fee?
  • What would happen if the result needs an in-person follow-up?
